The last but one World- Strongman Cup in Nuernberg/ Germany presented as well as the enthused spectators as the presenters including the numerous sponsors a cup of sport’s superlatives.
Nothing has been left to be desired, premieres, shows, and the most popular Strongman disciplines- the audience of Nuernberg couldn’t stop wondering!
The surprise of the competition has really been the home victory of the Bavarian local hero Franz “the Bavarian” Beil, who has been top- trained and who lifted the other
Strongmen sometimes really besides!
Franz has been all smiles, and he enjoyed his sportive best performance and the cheering of the audience equally.
But, at the first discipline, the „Conan’s Circle“, Tarmo „the Mountain“ Mitt excelled and mastered more than 2 rounds with the incredible 395 kilo weights on his forearms and could finish the cup in Nuernberg/ Germany as a good 4th.
The Polish Slawomir Orzel gave at this World- Strongman Cup his premiere, and nearly achieved Tarmo’s performance. At the “Walk of Farmer”(= "Farmer's Walk") , an event, where the athletes have to carry weights with 145 kilos at each hand over a distance of 40 metres, Slawomir Orzel carried himself at a 4th place.
The „Truckpull“, an equally popular as challenging discipline, demanded with its 16 tons a great deal from the athletes.
Nevertheless, the Austrian Ralf „the Bear“ Ber pulled the unbelievable 16 tons (!) the distance of 20 metres during great 43.92 seconds; Franz “the Bavarian” Beil was close at his heels and has only been “slowlier” than the Austrian Giant for just 0.28 seconds!
Tarmo “the Mountain” Mitt is not called “the Mountain” for nothing, with his height off 1.95 metres he is really the biggest of the athletes of strength; and his “Truckpull”- performance has been great, too- he finished this event during 46.40 seconds, hardly recognizable 0.01 seconds faster than the English Simon Flint
Ralf “the Bear” Ber presented the phenomenal power of his biceps excellently at the “Stonelift”, and lifted the 325 kilos of a Stone even at the first heat 71 cm! But the Russian Oleg Dudkin, who premiered at the first World- Strongman Cup of 2005 in Minsk/ Belarus, was able to reach the best performance of “the Bear” during the second heat.
But the Ukrainian Champion Michael Starov breathed down the necks of Ralf and Oleg in lifting the Stone for 70 cm. Simon Flint could achieve with a height of 64 cm a good 4th place.
At the “Wheelbarrow” after all, the sensational winner Franz „the Bavarian“ Beil has been able to show that he really hard- earned the first victory of the World- Strongman Cup in Nuernberg/ Germany. During unbelievable 18.62 seconds, he pushed the 1380 kilos of a car like a children’s barrow in front of him. In spite of a hurt knee, Michael Starov proved that he is rightly related as THE Ukrainian Champion and oushed the car only 1.88 seconds after “the Bavarian” into the 25 metres away goal.
The athlete of strength, who had to flow once over half of the world to participate at this great World- Strongman Cup, Grant Higa from Seattle/ America, could achieve at the “Wheelbarrow” with 27.84 seconds a good 3rd place.
The „Cruzifix“ has been mastered by the second local hero Florian Trimpl, whose arm- musculature could hold the 15 kilos on each side for brilliant 40.68 seconds.
Tarmo “the Mountain” Mitt finished this demanding discipline just obne second earlier than the German youngster Florian Trimpl, closed in by Franz “the Bavarian” Beil with 37.28 seconds.
The last discipline has been in the truest sense of the word the Strong- Showdown! Franz “the Bavarian” Beil collected all his enormous powers for the last time, everyone could see and even feel his motivation and his victory will. During phenomenal 20.09 seconds, Franz outrun the other Strongmen at the “Farmer’s Walk” including the 145 kilo weights on each hand over the predeterminded distance of 40 metres and stole the match of a non-less fast Michael Starov with 20.93 seconds and a Raivis “the Animal” Vidzis with 21.75 seconds.
Thanks to his constant and great performances during the whole Season of Strength 2005, Raivis „the Animal“ Vidzis stayed the leader in the total final results, but the runner-up of the World- Strongman Cup of Nuernberg/ Germany, Ralf “the Bear” Ber, could reduce his backlog.
Great suspense is to be expected at the final competition of the World- Strongman Cup Tour 2005 in Russia at the end of October, where the strongest of the strong, the best of the best, the greatest of the great prove as well as their physical power as their mental strength.
