To look at him, you would never think that he was a NHB Submission fighter. Let alone, one of the better ones in Northern Indiana.
His name is Justin Wisniewski. His six foot, 150 pound frame belies the fact that he is an extremely good NHB fighter. He and his brother Keith form the Polish Connection as they call it.
Justin's style is listed as street fighting but you can see boxing training and a strong Jiu-Jitsu influence in his style.
Most of Justin's fights last just barely a minute. At his fight against James Perez at the Indiana Martial Arts Challenge, in March, it only took twenty-eight seconds for him to walk away with the win.
Justin started out just like a lot of fighters do. He was a fan. He and his brother would watch videos of NHB fights. They started to teach each other by watching and immulating the fighters on the screen.
Justin's training for his very first fight came from watching videos. Since then he has trained on a regular basis at USA Martial Arts. He has spent time at T&A Boxing in LaPorte, IN learning the boxing end of fighting. He also trained with Bruce Weiler at Absolute Self Defense in Michigan City. Bruce is known for his tuff fighting courses.
With competitions in The Extreme Challenge Trials, Hook-n-Shoot, IMAC one, two, and three, Jeet Kune Do Challenge, Chicago Challenge, and Triple 'F' Threat, Justin has accumulated a multitude of experience to help him in the ring. His seven and five record is deceiving. To underestimate Justin can be very detrimental to his opponents. He has learned to take advantage of even the smallest of mistakes.
The next fight in Justin's career will be on May 15th at the Hook-N-Shoot in Evansville, IN. He will be competing in a straight submission match. His opponent is a friend and he cannot bring himself to fight NHB against a good friend. Justin said, "I value his friendship and I just would not feel right trading punches with him."
We at Intense Combat have been watching Justin improve over the last year. The fighter we first saw in March of 1998 is not the fighter of 1999. Experience has been an excellent teacher and Justin has proved to be and exceptional student.
